Our Hospice Friendly Hospitals Programme has been adopted in 42 hospitals across the health service. We have campaigned strongly for this programme to be embedded within the HSE and we are pleased to note that the HSE's Assistant National Director of Acute Services requested a palliative, end-of-life care and bereavement plan from all acute hosiptals during the year.

Nurses for Nightcare is a service provided by the Irish Hospice Foundation since 2006. The demand for the service, which provides support to patients who choose to die at home, has grown since then. For over a decade, this programme has helped hundreds of these patients. The Irish Hospice Foundation has initiated talks with the Irish Cancer Society on how to advocate for state support for this service in light of the rising costs.
